Constance Zimmer is giving her costars their well-deserved flowers.
In fact, the Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette actress revealed her honest reaction after many of her cast members—including Paul Anthony Kelly, Naomi Watts and Grace Gummer—did not receive 2026 Emmy Award nominations for their performances in the FX limited series.
"I was surprised," Zimmer—who landed a Supporting Actress nom for her portrayal of portrayal of Carolyn Bessette's mother Ann Marie Messina in the biographical TV drama—told E! News in an exclusive interview ahead of the Sept. 14 ceremony. "Paul didn't get nominated or Grace or Naomi or writing for the show and all that stuff."
"But that's life," the 55-year-old added. "Sorry. I mean, it sucks."
Ultimately, Zimmer and Sarah Pidgeon (a.k.a. the Carolyn to Kelly's John F. Kennedy Jr.) were the only cast members recognized among the 2026 nominees, much to Zimmer's shock.
"I was surprised I was nominated," the UnReal alum confessed to E!. "I thought I was going to be the one that wasn't and then when I was the one that was I was like, 'Wait, what just happened? I don't understand how that happened.' But, anyways, here we are."
Regardless, Zimmer will forever cherish the bonds she made working on the headline-making Ryan Murphy-produced series.
"We're a part of something that we had no idea was going to take on so much attention," the actress reflected. "We have a really nice group chat with all the Love Story actors, it's fun."
And though she believes her costars should have also been recognized, Zimmer is grateful for the six nominations Love Story did receive.
"This doesn't happen all the time," she concluded, "and so we're all just trying to enjoy every minute of it."
In fact, the series is already a 2026 Emmy winner, having won the award for Outstanding Casting for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie during last week's Creative Arts ceremony. (Zimmer lost to DTF St. Louis' Linda Cardellini.)
See if Love Story snags any more trophies tonight when the Emmys airs at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC and streaming on Peacock.
